The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has published its first-quarter 2026 infrastructure investment report, reflecting R4.2 billion in capital expenditure across bulk water supply, wastewater treatment upgrades, and rural reticulation schemes between January and March 2026.
Key highlights from the report include the completion of Phase 2 of the Olifants River Water Resources Development Project, progress on the Umzimvubu Water Project in the Eastern Cape, and the commissioning of three new water treatment works in Limpopo servicing an estimated 180,000 households.
